The Suwannee-St. John’s Sierra Club North Florida Working Group is sponsoring a cleanup at Worthington Springs to cleanup the park and to help bring awareness to the dangers that the proposed HPS II Phosphate mine poses to the environment.
Here is the info for this event:
DATE: Sunday March 12, 2017 at 10:00am-1:00pm
MEETING PLACE: Chastain Seay Park in Worthington Springs. Just off SR121. Turn into the park, north of the bridge and drive through the park to the boat ramp. We will park and meet under the bridge.
EVENT will be 2 fold, first a clean up along the Santa Fe river and a clean up with kayaks upstream from the park.
Downstream is not practical so we will not go downstream. LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: Easy to Moderate. About 1 hour 1/2 of work.
Then we will have a picnic/meeting after the cleanup.
Bring some food for yourself, and some to share.
****Most of all bring plenty of water, sunscreen, hat, mosquito repellent.***
